Trivia (singular: trivium) are unimportant (or "trivial") items, especially of information. In the late 19th century the expression came to apply more to information of the kind useful almost exclusively for answering quiz questions: a perfect "trivia question" is one that initially stumps the listener, but the answer subsequently sounds familiar once revealed (otherwise the question would be considered either too familiar and therefore not trivia, or so unfamiliar and obscure as to be unanswerable and not as entertaining). The study or collection of trivia is known as spermology, which literally means collection of seeds.


Wie ist Bagatellen?

Bagatellen (einzigartig: trivium) sind unwichtig (oder trivial) Artikel, besonders der Information. Gegen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts kam der Ausdruck, um mehr an die Information der Art nützlich fast exklusiv zu gelten, um auf Quiz-Fragen zu antworten: eine vollkommene "Bagatellen-Frage" ist derjenige, der am Anfang den Zuhörer ausschaltet, aber die Antwort nachher vertraut einmal offenbart klingt (sonst, würde die Frage entweder zu vertraut und deshalb nicht Bagatellen, oder so fremd und dunkel betrachtet, um nicht zu beantwortend zu sein, und nicht als unterhaltend). Die Studie oder Sammlung von Bagatellen sind als spermology bekannt, welcher wörtlich Sammlung von Samen bedeutet.
